About Life Matters
Jillian Mickleborough-Sugiyama is the director of Life Matters. Jillian, a Canadian citizen and long-term resident of Nagoya, Japan, brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience related to life transitions, crisis, and cultural diversity. She spent the beginning years of her career working as a lawyer and later consulting with culturally diverse clients of all ages, before completing her Master of Counselling and establishing herself in private practice.
Jillian is a registered member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She is dedicated to ensuring client safety and fulfilling professional ethics within all of her counselling relationships. As a testament to her commitment to client safety and professional ethics, Jillian participates in ongoing professional development and consultations with mentors to ensure that her clients’ experiences of counselling are rewarding, positive, and safe.
